His eyes narrowed, he adjusted his glasses, and slowly walked over to get a better look at the painting, which pictured a perfectly muscled man, with an abnormally huge cock and exquisitely formed thighs, calves and feet. It may have been a painting of the horned god but this man was perfectly formed all over. All man, no beast. But still a painting of a horned god. Surrounded by woodlands, his horned head was covered in masses of dark curls, with a twinkle in his eerily emerald green eyes and a seductive smile as he played on his musical pipes. There was something about this particular image that captured Sam’s imagination. Paul sensed a possible sale here.
"Like it? It’s a series a client is doing. It's his Pagan Deity series. This one is some kind of shepherd or amalgamation of all the sex and party deities. Frankly I don’t think he was able to make up his mind what he wanted this one to be, but everyone who has seen it wants it. Something about the eyes. It's a great likeness Uh? It almost looks alive." Paul waited to continue to punch numbers into the credit card machine, hoping that he had made a sale on the painting. Sam certainly looked interested enough.
"I want it." Sam barely whispered, his throat had gone dry. The next time he said it with such urgency that Paul was surprised by its intensity, as he had never heard this kind of excitement in Sam’s voice before.
"It's got a hefty price tag, you sure you want it?" Paul was displaying the painting as a favor to a friend, he hadn’t dare to hope for a sale that would bring in a nice commission. Because of the expensive price tag, he didn't think anyone would buy it.
"Put it on my card. I'll take it with me." Sam lifted the 16x20 sized canvas down from the wall and held it at arm’s length. The emerald green eyes in the portrait seemed to draw Sam deeper into the picture the more he stared into it.
"No problem dude. If you like it that much, I'll let you know when more stuff by the same artist comes in. Sign here please." Paul thrust the credit receipt into Sam's hands.
“That won’t be necessary. One extravagance is enough.” Sam said, hardly looking at Paul as he tore off his copy of the receipt and dropped it into the bag with the rest of his purchases.
